The best thing to do is to make a list of what you want from your dog. Are you looking for an energetic dog that will want to run laps around the park with you? Are you looking for one that would do extremely well at learning tricks? How important is the ease of housebreaking to you? Considering all of these points is the best way to get started so write them down as you think of them. By making this check list you will be able to look through all dogs breeds and find the perfect one for you.

Even though you cannot create your own real life dog, like a virtual pet, with all of the dogs breeds that are out there, you should have no problem finding a dog that is extremely close to what you want. You will probably find yourself extremely surprised to learn just what type of breeds fit into your description of a desirable dog. Even if that breed is not what you expected you should give it consideration. This does not mean that other breeds would not work for you. What it does mean is that it will not be as compatible with you as another breed.

If you happen to find that you simply cannot take in the breed that is the most compatible for you then you can always pick another breed. Maybe you just cannot get over how bad you think the breed looks to you. If you find that this is the situation you are in then all you have to do is look for the second closet fit to your personal and household needs in all dogs breeds. With enough time and research you will be on your way to owning a new dog who is perfect for you and your home.
